Disaster Avoided

6 O’clock Follies:  When Chuck Otte was asked to speak at Thursday’s press conference, his first order of business was the prevent a possible disaster.  Wendy Bockhold, a volunteer for the Sammy Fund, spent about 10 minutes explaining the upcoming event, introducing the honorary chairmen and recognizing the event’s major sponsors, all the while nervously edging backward nearer the edge of the pool.   When Otte stepped forward, he immediately grabbed Bockhold and moved her two or three steps away from the pool.   “I just saw one of those heels slipping over the edge,” he said.  “And with all these television cameras here, I don’t think we would have wanted to see that on the 6 o’clock news.”
